Dion Lee, a leading luxury fashion brand based in New York, is seeking an experienced and innovative RTW Designer to join our dynamic team.

Reporting to the Creative Director and Designer Director, this role will drive, contribute and support the delivery of four DION LEE seasonal collections per year, including two runway collections and two pre-collections. The ideal candidate will have an exceptional design vision with a strong understanding of pattern making, drape and tailoring with an understanding of both womenswear and menswear categories.

Areas of responsibility include, but are not limited to:

—Oversee and manage the entire design process, from concept, fabric development, pattern handover, fittings and production finalization.

—Extensively research concept development, fabric innovation and garment construction based on seasonal brief from Creative Director.

—Collaborate with the Design, Fabric, Production and Sales departments to select fabrics and trims relevant to seasonal brief and range plan.

—Develop design concepts through research, vintage sourcing, drape, textile manipulation and other relevant experimentations.

—Finalize sketches with Creative Director + Senior Designer in a timely manner to align with critical path and flow of workroom.

—Prepare and hand off sketches to pattern maker, ensuring all design elements and garment construction details are clearly communicated and resolved.

— Attend and lead fittings, collaborating with product developer and pattern maker to ensure design intention, silhouette and proportion is correctly executed and fit comments are communicated, with consideration of wearability, sales commerciality and production capability.

We are looking for a Workroom Associate to lead the NYC and domestic development for all Dion Lee shows, look books and special projects style development.

RESPONSIBILITIES

—Main point of contact between Design and the Workroom.

—Development lead for all styles developed in NYC and Special projects.

—Clear and robust planning calendar to handle prototypes, show samples, special projects and MTO VIP dressing.

—Manage scheduling for atelier staff to ensure Workroom is operational for 7 days per week running up to show or photoshoot as needed.

—Comp days are given to permanent staff for weekend work. Manage permanent and freelance Workroom team.

—Maintain a working environment within the studio that is highly functional and collaborative.

—Hand sewing, sample cutting, trim application as needed on finished samples.

REQUIREMENTS

—1-2 years practical work experience.

—Strong background in pattern and technical construction skills.

—Must be highly organized and have exception time management skills.

—Strong people management.

—Bilingual in Mandarin or Cantonese is a plus.

DION LEE is a New York based unisex designer brand, hailing from Sydney, Australia. Established in 2009, the brand is renowned for experimental construction combined with an intelligent sensuality.

DION LEE is looking for an experienced Patternmaker to join their New York design team, working closely with the Creative Director, Designers and Developer across seasonal and runway collections.

Areas of responsibility include, but are not limited to:

—Creating manual paper or digital patterns from hand drawings and/or drapes.

— Creating patterns which are accurate, well-fitting to design intention and clearly executable for respective cutters, sample makers and offshore factories.

— Maintaining accurate yield and measurement specifications for manufacture and costing

—Participate in all development and production fittings

—Pattern alterations and grading rules

—Working with the in-house sample cutters and makers to oversee the completion of high quality samples

—Consistent communication with the production team to ensure high quality fit and finishes and review of pre-production sample.

The Ideal Candidate

—5 -10+ years experience in womenswear clothing pattern making – manual or computer

—Experience across all garment categories, experience in Tailoring and Menswear is also a plus

—Ability to creatively problem solve pattern and/or construction constraints to achieve design intention.

—Ability to work on the form, drape and sew

—Have a keen eye for cut and silhouette and ability to interpret designer’s intention and brand’s handwriting

—High attention to detail and accuracy

—High knowledge of high end garment finishes

—High knowledge of detailed and complex garment construction

—Be computer literate in Excel and Outlook and experience with Adobe Illustrator is a plus

—Enjoy the challenge of working with original designer fashion garment in a fast paced environment
